Real-time Sunlight Wallpaper

I got a few reports from a bug since the last release.

This bug was affecting more people than I fist anticipated. I got stuck this afternoon and I committed a fix.

I'm not sure how other developers do it but I have no way on testing this fix because it didn't affect me. So, will anybody affected by this bug report. I would like to know if this fixed the problem or if it still persists.

The bug fix has been released as a debian file that can be found through the usual means in the main launchpad page. I would like to get a confirmation that is working before I push the fix through the PPA

Thank you

New Release v0.3 30/10/2010

While working on some ideas I have I decided to publish this release at the mean time just for the added features it has. I'm working on some pretty cool stuff at the moment, wait and see.

Changelog:

- Added Style change feature
- Added Background Color feature
- Makefile optimized
- Bugs & Fixes

Late last night I pushed a new update with a couple of fixes I wanted to do for a little while. I was able to upload into Launchpad the deb package and the ppa for Lucid. As soon as I get a bit of time I will update the ppa for Maverick also.

And I will update the website and all the rest.

ps - Probably after the weekend (and sorry for the delay)

New update has been push to the repository with some minor changes. One of them been the removal of "get_image.sh" from the home folder which a lot of people complain about. Delete it from the home folder manually please.

The new release it also has a package for the upcoming Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick.

I changed the package name from "sunlight" to "gtk-sunlight". So if you get an error while updating RSW, first install sunlight before installing "gtk-sunlight".

$ sudo apt-get remove sunlight

$ sudo apt-get install gtk-sunlight

I think this should do it. If you have any problem please let me know

I got an email today from juanmah telling me that he has unofficially ported RSW to ArchLinux. I'm glad the word is getting around and RSW is supporting more and more distros.

I will help out junamah on with anything he needs on the future for an ArchLinux version of RSW. Still, very early stages of RSW but the future is looking bright.

Just a small update for a small bug fix

changelog:

- Kills anyother running RSW at start

After a lot of hours figuring out how all of that worked, it finally paid off.

Enjoy of the PPA

A new update 16/06/2010

After a bit of work I finish what I think is a pretty good release. Tweaked and changed a few things
  • The main window doesn't load when the computer starts on start up
  • The scale feature has been remove
  • The window close button now doesn't exit the applicaton
  • And a couple more minor changes
I have a the debian package both here and in Launchpad. The PPA will have to wait just a bit longer as for some reason the packages fail to build on Launchpad for some reason I don't know.

Hopefully, I will have it resolve on a day or two.

To my surprise today I got an email from Softpedia tell me that RSW was added to their database of software programs for linux.

I just think that people must like what I'm doing. Doesn't matter how simple my application is. I'm happy for it.

More the good reason to have a new release soon with a few patches and a --nonedialog start option.

I like to start by thanking everybody for their feedback and bug reports, with all that I'll try to make RSW as good as it can be.

I like to explain on the things I'm working at the moment:
  •  High on my priority list is changing the way RSW main window loads everytime the application starts. I'm still thinking what approach I'm going to take on that. I already had a couple of suggestions but I haven't decided yet.
  • Also high on priority list is having a PPA set up. I'm getting the grips with making my own debian packages that I need to have for setting up the PPA. The last debian package was made by somebody else for me and I really need know how to make my own. I could set up the PPA with the debian package I have, but I prefer to wait until I have an update from sunlight-0.0.11.
  • I had a few complain about the way RSW sets the image as "Scale" by default. I'll remove this feature on the next release for now, but I'll add the option of changing the style with in RSW on the future.
  • The close button on the window at the moment exits RSW. This should be change to just closing the window.

I think this are the main things I'm concentrating at the moment.
